Why WiDS Purdue? Our story
Hello! We are Nicole Eikmeier and Huda Nassar, two graduate students in Math and Computer Science. About a year ago, we learned of a conference, called Women in Data Science (WiDS), happening at Stanford University. In February 2017, we were lucky enough to attend, and found the speakers and community to be truly inspiring. This year, we want as many students in our community to have the opportunity to experience this event, right at Purdue. We hope that hearing and learning directly from our exclusively female speakers will encourage participants to explore opportunities in this field.
In conjunction with dozens of other WiDS event worldwide, we’re excited to bring you distinguished women in the field of data science, all local to West Lafayette. Additionally, we will live-stream some of the Stanford events, making for a unique conference experience. We hope you’ll join us!
